Restoration Forestry

Fostering Excellent Forestry

ForEverGreen Forestry is an organization built on a love of the woods. Founder and principal Tracy Katelman is a Registered Professional Forester with deep roots in the forest-protection, sustainable forestry, and restoration fields of action. Saving old growth and ensuring viable, intact forests for the future is a passion of Tracy’s and many of her associates and professional contacts. Forest integrity—whether wilderness or working forest—is paramount to the North Coast of California, the Sierra Nevada, and many other places. When we protect and support forest health, including best practices related to fire control and use, we protect our human communities as well. As one of California’s first female foresters, Tracy Katelman continues to help shape and lead excellent forestry both on the ground and in the policy arena, with a focus on fire resiliency and restoration management. More about Tracy:

  • Active participant in California’s Forest Management Task Force since its inception, including the Prescribed Fire and Landowner Education and Outreach Working Groups.

  • Early innovator and leader in third-party forest certification as cofounder of both the Forest Stewardship Council and the Institute for Sustainable Forestry.

  • Active with organizations promoting excellent forestry, including as a cofounder of the Forest Stewards Guild and the Buckeye Forest Project.
